House Plans

The process of building a custom designed house should be one of the most exciting times of your life, but often turns out to be your worst nightmare. At Karter Margub we take pride in ensuring that this does not happen.

Local authorities differ in their requirements regarding the format in which building plans must be submitted and is area dependent.

One of the basic statutory requirements of the National Building Regulations, is that nobody may start with the building of any structure without the prior approval of the necessary building plans by the relevant local authority. This requirement is applicable to ALL buildings erected within the boundaries of jurisdiction of all local authorities in South Africa and most neighboring states

Every prospective house owner MUST therefore submit to the local authority a full set of building plans for approval, before starting with any building work. Such building plans may only be drawn up a registered professional.

From 1 July 2006, all persons practicing architecture or submitting building plans to local authorities will be obliged to register with SACAP “South African Council for Architectural Practice”
